As excited as we all are that Washington seems to be taking baby steps forward to reopen, when the mandates change it becomes an individual’s, or business’ choice to figure out what they are comfortable with.
The first thing I do when considering changing our policy, is talk to all the staff, since they are the ones who must interface with all of you.
The clear response to whether or not we should continue to ask for vaccination cards, was since we have done so well thus far, creating a place that people feel safe going, that we aren’t yet ready to drop the vaccination status question in the dance spaces.
But in The Tin Table, as of 3/1/22, we will no longer ask for your vaccination card. For dances and classes, we still will require you to show proof of vaccination. Masks are required still.
You already know that if one person on staff goes down, we most likely have to shut the doors. We’ve done this twice in The Tin Table already. I am not willing to ask them to risk their own health if I don’t have to.
Additionally, some of us on staff are involved with Seattle Dances, a major fundraiser for Plymouth Housing, and if any one of us gets sick, it will have huge ramifications for the event.
I won’t address the mask question for a while, because Washington’s 3/21 mandate change won’t affect King County.
Every decision I have had to make over the last two+ years has been excruciating, because I know I cannot appease everyone. But I trust that you understand that we are making these choices to keep you and us as healthy as we can, so we can get back to “normal” as soon as possible.
With gratitude,
– Hallie
