Come to Seattle’s first and oldest Kizomba social on 1st Friday!

1st Fly Friday is a monthly dance that celebrates Kizomba and its related music and styles of dance.

Kizomba is one of the most popular genres of dance and music created in Angola late 1989 to early 1990’s. It is a fusion of Semba (the predecessor of samba) with the Zouk music styles from the French Caribbean Islands with influences from other Lusophone countries. Derived directly from Zouk music, sung generally in Portuguese or Creole, it is a genre of music with a romantic flow mixed with African rhythm.

Kizomba Seattle is one of the first Kizomba dance communities in the US, celebrating community and the love of music and dance. Century Ballroom has hosted this dance since 2012, and has also hosted the Amabo Seattle Kizomba Festival (2018-2019), a weekend-long celebration with instructors and DJs from the US and Europe.

Come and celebrate Seattle’s premier night for Kizomba at one of the loveliest venues in Seattle, Century Ballroom.

Fly means come looking fly just because it’s nice to dress up once in a while.
